Which everyday support suits older people in Siegen?
The right everyday support depends on what is difficult at the moment. The following situations show what we help with, and each leads to the service page with all the details.
When the household becomes too much
Vacuuming, mopping or cleaning the bathroom suddenly take a lot of energy, and the curtains have not been taken down for months. We take over the housework you find hard: from washing and ironing and fresh bed linen to the stairwell cleaning rota in a block of flats. If you wish, we also prepare a meal, and light gardening is included too. One-off jobs are possible as well, such as spring cleaning, a deep clean before moving in or getting the home ready before a hospital discharge. You will find everything else on the page about home help in Siegen and the surrounding area.
When a home has to be cleared
A move into a care home, a smaller flat or a full cellar: we take on house clearances and decluttering, from sorting and clearing out through removal and proper disposal to leaving the property broom-clean on request. As a rule this is a service you pay for yourself; after a viewing we will tell you the cost. More on the page about house clearance and decluttering in Siegen.
When company and variety are missing
People who live alone often miss above all someone to talk to. Our care assistant (Betreuungskraft) comes to you, has conversations with you, reads aloud or plays a board game with you. In good weather you go for a walk or a short outing. We also share hobbies with you that are no fun any more on your own, and smaller help with pets, such as walking the dog, is possible by arrangement. The page about companionship for older people in Siegen describes what this support looks like.
When shopping and errands are difficult
The weekly shop is heavy to carry, the prescription has to go to the pharmacy, a letter to the post office. We do your shopping and errands for you or go shopping together with you if you would like to choose for yourself. We also run errands to the pharmacy, the post office or public offices. You can read more about this under shopping help and errands for older people.
When a doctor’s appointment or a trip to an office is coming up
At the specialist’s or at a public office, a familiar person at your side is worth a lot, especially if the appointment is unfamiliar. We accompany you to doctor’s and official appointments so that you do not have to make the journey alone, and, by arrangement, collect you in our insured company vehicles. This way relatives do not have to take on every appointment themselves. You can find out how the accompaniment works on the page about accompaniment to doctor’s appointments and public offices.
When post and forms pile up
A letter from your health insurance fund (Krankenkasse), a form from a public office, a phone call that has been due for a long time: such things tend to get put off when they become tiresome. We help with filling in forms and with phone calls so that nothing is overlooked, and also with smartphones, mobile phones and tablets. What exactly this includes is on the page about help with forms and phone calls.
Sometimes several wishes come together, such as help with the housework and accompaniment to the doctor. The services can be combined in one visit: a visit can begin with the housework and continue with shopping together, a trip to the pharmacy or accompaniment to the doctor. The most frequently requested is support with the household, followed by shopping accompaniment and visits to doctors and pharmacies. We do not have separate staff for housekeeping and companionship: our everyday support workers help with both, wherever possible as the same familiar person. We will discuss which services you need and to what extent in the free initial consultation.
Who is the help in everyday life for?
For older people who live at home
Our help in everyday life for older people in the Siegerland is aimed at people who want to stay in their own home and need support in some areas. This can come suddenly, for example after a stay in hospital, when strength first has to return. Often it comes gradually, because stairs, shopping and housework become more tiring over the years. We will discuss how often and for how long we come in the initial consultation.
For relatives who would like relief
Many relatives look after their mother or father alongside work and their own family. Relieving family carers is expressly part of our services. For example, we take over the shopping, the laundry or an afternoon of company so that you have room to breathe again. This leaves more time for what matters to you in your family.
For families where a nursing service already visits
If a nursing service (Pflegedienst) already comes to the home, there is often little time left for everyday life around it. Then the tasks are shared: the nursing service takes care of the nursing care, and we look after the household, shopping, conversation and accompaniment to appointments. We complement the nursing service, we do not replace it. In this way both kinds of help interlock without tasks being duplicated.
What does the care insurance fund pay for everyday help?
With a recognised care level and care at home, you are entitled to the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI: up to 131 Euro per month, from care level 1. The amount is earmarked and may be used, among other things, for recognised services like ours. No separate application is needed beforehand; the care insurance fund reimburses against a receipt. Whatever you do not use in a calendar year can still be used until the end of June of the following year, after which the remainder lapses. In this way the relief amount can cover everyday support for older people in Siegen in whole or in part.
Our help is recognised under § 45a SGB XI. With a care level, we bill eligible services directly to the payers where possible. For direct billing, an assignment declaration (Abtretungserklärung) is enough. What no payer covers, you pay yourself; we agree the fee with you individually: costs on request. The health insurance fund can also reimburse home help, for example after an operation, during pregnancy or after the birth; we issue invoices and service records for you to present, and you clarify the entitlement with your fund beforehand (Home help via the health insurance fund). How this works in detail is explained on the page Home help via the long-term care insurance fund.
Whether and to what amount the costs incurred are reimbursed by your care insurance fund depends on the statutory requirements and is assessed by the competent fund. The relief amount under § 45b SGB XI is currently up to 131 € per month. As of: 24.09.2026.
What is not part of our services?
We do not provide medical care: no injections, no wound care, no giving of medication. Instead we have time for everyday life. Basic personal care such as washing and dressing, and medical nursing care (Behandlungspflege), are provided by a nursing service; personal care, for example when going to the toilet, is also not part of our services. We do not provide childcare either. We complement the nursing service, we do not replace it. The guide on the difference between a nursing service and everyday help shows how the two differ. The article on what a home help may do explains which household tasks are permitted.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a care level for the care insurance fund to pay for the help?
Yes. The relief amount under § 45b SGB XI is available with a recognised care level if you are cared for at home. You are then entitled to up to 131 Euro per month, from care level 1 and without a separate application beforehand. For our help itself, a care level is not a requirement: anyone in need of support can contact us, and we will tell you the costs on request. More on this on the page Home help via the long-term care insurance fund.
How quickly can you help in Siegen and the surrounding area?
We get back to you personally within one working day of an enquiry. In urgent cases, for example after a hospital discharge or at short notice, we can usually help within 48 hours. The best thing to do is to call us directly: 0171 / 330 00 11.
Will the same person always come to us?
We do our best to assign you one regular contact person, and you get to know the care assistant beforehand. If the chemistry is not right, we will gladly arrange a suitable alternative. If your regular contact person is ill or on holiday, we send a suitable replacement or move the appointment in agreement with you.
Do you also provide nursing care, such as medication or wound care?
No. We do not provide medical nursing care (Behandlungspflege), so no giving of medication, no wound care and no injections. We complement the nursing service, we do not replace it, and we have time for everyday life.
